Odisha bags 8 awards for successful implementation of Central schemes

New Delhi: Odisha bagged as many as eight national awards for successful implementation of centrally sponsored rural development schemes.

The state received eight awards at different categories from Union Minister of Rural Development, Panchayat Raj and Mines Narendra Singh Tomar out of 236 national awards during a programme held at Vigyan Bhawan Tuesday in New Delhi.

Tomar presented three awards to Odisha as the best performing state under Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Antyodaya Yojana and National Rural Livelihood Mission.

The state also received awards for showing the best results road connectivity under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) and adopting green technology in construction project.

The Union Minister also awarded Odisha at four different categories for successful implementation of Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) especially in the tribal districts of Kandhamal and Rayagada.

Similarly, Hatiota Gram Panchayat under Polasara Block in Ganjam district was awarded the best panchayat for successfully implementing the MGNREGA.
